Diversity [ Return towards  Air Liquide and you  ]

Air Liquide’s presence in over 80 countries, the many different nationalities of its employees and the importance placed on gender equality mean that diversity is a reality for the company and is indeed one of the mainstays of development and the sharing of expertise within the Group.

Did you know?

  • In 2011, 41 of the 330 managers holding ‘top management’ positions were women.
  • In 2011, handicapped employees accounted for 1.2% of the workforce.
  • In October 2009, Air Liquide in France signed the Diversity Charter to combat any form of discrimination.

Diversity: cultivating differences

Diversity at Air Liquide does not just mean different nationalities and cultures. It also means differences in age and gender and accommodations for those with handicaps. A diverse employee population is believed to create value through the exchange of differing views, opinions, and thought processes.

In 2011, for example, Air Liquide employs some 300 executive officers from 28 different countries, 90% of whom have international experience. Gender is another key element demonstrating the diversity of the company. The percentage of women occupying executive and engineering positions increased from 14% in 2003 to 26% in 2011.

Handicap: adapting in order to get the best out of people

Handicap at Air Liquide does not mean hindrance rather enrichment and increased diverse views. For Air Liquide, diversity and equality requires accommodation and integration of handicapped people into teams.

In France, the Group has created Mission Handicap. This mission is responsible for coordinating initiatives to help establish work placement, secure job retention, and recruit future handicap employees.

Air Liquide employs more than 500 people worldwide with varying disagrees of handicap: want to know more?
