Benoît, business controller  [ Return towards  Our employees' stories  ]

Between France and Italy, he takes part in external growth projects and in the budget and sales reporting in one of the Group’s Healthcare subsidiaries.

Establishing budgets and preparing potential acquisitions

How would you describe your day-to-day work ?
In the Healthcare activity, I’m in charge of management control for the Medical Equipment Business Unit.
The first responsibility is the management control of two French and Italian sites: establishing budgets with the managers linked to the Human Resources recruitment plan, upcoming R&D projects and sales forecasts, doing reporting and monitoring and analyzing budgets using quantitative indicators. My role is to be the link with line personnel on the two sites, centralize and analyze information, and then transmit it to the management. It’s a very interesting profession because it gives you both a global view of the activity and a detailed one of the different businesses. It’s also a profession with very rich human contact.
The second part of my job is just as motivating. I take part in the Business Unit’s external growth projects, studying the buyout of “target” companies. Preparing the investment files involves exciting team and analysis work. You have to familiarize yourself thoroughly with the “target” company and its market to evaluate how it can create synergies in the activity’s development strategy. Once the acquisition is done, next comes work on integrating the new company into the Group.

Why did you choose Air Liquide ?
I chose Air Liquide because it’s a company whose technological expertise and products are known worldwide. It’s also a leader in its field that has solid growth ambitions. This is shown by its very stimulating rigor and dynamism on a day-to-day basis. Here, everyone is convinced that if you let someone take the initiative, the whole company will benefit from it!
