Lucia, business developer  [ Return towards  Our employees' stories  ]

She started as a process engineer and is currently developping growth opportunities in the Large Industries.

Taking part in developing complex projects

How did you join Air Liquide ?
I started working in France as a process engineer. Then I joined the international development team in the Corporate Human Resources Department as a project coordinator. After two years, I asked for a transfer to another country and joined the Large Industries branch in Argentina where a new position as business developer was created.

What is your exact role today ?
We supply our large customers from metals, chemicals, oil and gas, and energy conversion industries with our gases via pipeline. My role is to follow these customers daily and offer the most competitive solutions that best meet their expectations. I work closely with the Group’s engineering branch in France to find technical solutions. I analyze the market, the economic context and the customers and I call on experts to design the technical solution. These are often large-scale complex projects that require many internal validations. I first of all have to convince the Group that my choices are relevant before selling them to my customers.

What have you learned from your experience ?
I’ve learnt to work with very different customers while relying on a network of very specialized experts. I was lucky to go abroad and moreover for a new position. This really shows Air Liquide’s state of mind: it’s a Group that immediately trusts its employees and isn’t afraid to propose career paths that aren’t standard and that go beyond your original qualifications.
