Gases [ Return towards Chemicals]

The following gases, supplied by Air Liquide, are used in your activity and your processes. Contact us for more information.

Nitrogen

It's used mainly to ensure high production quality and to protect installations.
It can be used for inerting, as well as for :
• Storage (to protect raw materials or finished products in liquid form from the formation of peroxides and/or gum, and from contamination by oxygenated components)
• Regeneration of purification beds (alumina and molecular sieve)
• Preparation of catalysers and the transport of polymer powders
• Heat transfer medium in fluid bed reactors
• Temperature Control in reactors

Hydrogen

We run some 15 H2 production units and in addition, we collect and purify various sources of H2 in order to supply more than 1000 km of pipeline with pure hydrogen in Europe, the USA and Asia for the production of plastics, polyester and nylon. This gas is also used in the hydrogenation of amines and fatty acids.

Carbon Monoxide & Synthesis Gas

We have many customers in Europe, the USA and Asia who use an amount of CO and synthesis gas in their polycarbonate, polyurethane and oxy-alcohol units based on SMR and ATR processes or on partial oxidation.
As a result of our exclusive use partnership with Haldor Topsoe and Howe-Baker Engineers Ltd., we can offer chemical and petrochemical manufacturers advanced H2/CO production technologies which work in combination with our patent purification processes (by adsorption, cryogenics or diffusion) :

Oxygen

It's used to improve the yield of a large number of petrochemical processes.
We run more than 80 air separation units (ASUs) with a capacity reaching 3200 tonnes/day to supply oxidation processes in the chemical and petrochemical industries. Oxygen can be used pure in chemical oxidation reactions such as the production of ethylene oxide (EO), propylene oxide (PO), ethylene dichloride (EDC), vinyl acetate monomer (VAM), titanium dioxide (TiO2), ferric sulfate and also for the debottlenecking of air-based processes such as those in the production of acrylonitrile and purified terephtalic acid (PTA). Oxygen is also used in the production of synthesis gas (H2/CO).
We offer a vast choice of ways of supplying oxygen, going from the dedicated air separation unit to supply by pipeline.

Carbon Dioxide

Used in synthesis chemistry and for controlling reactor temperatures, this gas is also employed to neutralize alkaline effluents.
