A longer life span brings with it an increase in chronic illnesses. Patients, often vulnerable, expect to be taken care of, in the hospital as well as at home. The Group’s researchers have developed solutions to meet these needs.
To improve the quality of recovery of patients who have undergone a surgical procedure, Air Liquide’s researchers have developed LENOXe™ a high-performance xenon-based anesthetic gas. Today, they are working on broadening its uses to take care of ever more numerous patients.
VASOKINOX™, a nitrogen monoxide-based medication, enables to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension.
In hospital hygiene, researchers at our subsidiaries ANIOS and SCHULKE are developing ever more innovative antiseptics and disinfectants to fight against nosocomial infections.
The R&D teams also work on inhalation therapies, new solutions that enable to treat some diseases by breathing in a gas. These therapies allow to treat chronic pulmonary ailments like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma more effectively.
In the longer term, they will heal other diseases, using lungs as a privileged access to blood vessels to treat other organs.
