Hydrogen

A major actor in the hydrogen market, Air Liquide is committed to develop hydrogen as a clean energy source. Discover Air Liquide's present and future uses of hydrogen energy.

The Challenge Bibendum 2006

Once again this year, in 2006, Air Liquide took part in the Bibendum Challenge, organized by Michelin. It took place in Paris, on June 8-12, 2006. Dedicated to clean transportation, this year the Challenge welcomed more than 70 vehicles including 10 ecological vehicles that run on hydrogen.

In the framework of the Rally, whose goal was to demonstrate the performances of these environmentally friendly vehicles, Air Liquide set up two service stations, designed and developed by the Group, that supplied hydrogen to the vehicles at a test center north of Paris and on the Champ de Mars, near the Eiffel Tower.

Hydrogen, a cleaner energy

A very simple equation to begin with: hydrogen + oxygen => energy + water. Hydrogen is the only fuel that emits nothing else but steam during combustion. The idea is attractive from an environmental standpoint and offers an alternative to fossil fuels. After many years of research on this new energy carrier, Air Liquide now has leading-edge, comprehensive expertise of this technology, including production, storage, distribution and its use in a fuel cell.
