Laser Welding  [ Return towards  Applications  ]

The laser beam produced by a CO2 or a solid state YAG cavity is used for high penetration, high-speed welding processes, where mainstream processes can not deliver the required distortion and/or productivity.

Main applications are in metal fabrication and the automotive industries or their component suppliers.

A CO2 laser uses a cavity gas mix (LASAL™) and a process gas (LASAL™). A YAG laser is driven by a process gas (LASAL™).

CO2 lasing gas : LASAL™ 1, 2, 4 (N2, CO2, He, laser grade) or one of the lasing mixes from the LASAL™ range.

Recommendations for your process gas :

• Carbon steels: LASAL™ 2045 (e < 6 mm and beam power < 5 kW)
