As energy is a key component of an integrated steel mill, Air Liquide has designed a creative and dedicated solution, SAPHIR, to optimize the energy flows within the plant. SAPHIR aims at better valorize off-gases coming from blast furnaces, coke-ovens and converters and decrease the quantity of external fuel purchased.
From the measured data, SAPHIR achieves the best on-line allocation of off-gases to the different energy consuming workshops in the steel plant. It is an arbitrage decision support system including economical considerations, providing real-time management of off-gases.
