It is also used in the waste treatment and as a precursor of ozone.

CO2 enables to sharply tune the pH of recycled mechanical or chemical pulps after an alkaline bleaching.
It can be used in the Tall Oil neutralization and for increasing the performance of paper machines.

This instable gas is produced nearly by the point of use from oxygen (cryogenic tank or VSA unit). Ozone is used under 6-13 weight % variable concentrations.
