Advantages of ALDYNE™  [ Return towards  Gas Phase Priming: ALDYNE™  ]

Compared to conventional priming processes ALDYNE is an environmentally friendly process which allows cost savings, productivity gains and quality improvements.

Cost savings:

Reduction of priming cost by a factor of 5 to 10

  • Compared to conventional coating equipment, ALDYNE has a low investment cost.
  • ALDYNE successfully replaces liquid primer coating on any plastic substrate. The absence of liquid primer will therefore reduce running costs of any single or multi-layer material.
  • As ALDYNE reduces curing time to the order of milliseconds, energy requirements are extremely low.

Productivity gains:

ALDYNE enhances production flexibility and reliability.

Indeed, ALDYNE provides your substrates with stable surface energy and can therefore allow long term storability and transportation and converting reliability.

Quality gains:

The thinnest primer coating: sub-nanometric molecular coating

  • While other technologies struggle to achieve a thickness of several hundreds of nanometres for their primer coating, ALDYNE offers molecular coating i.e. down to 0.3-0.4 nm of primer coating thickness. This technology allows having a simple monolayer of molecular primer coating with improved adhesion and excellent wettability properties.

High-level and permanent surface energy providing excellent wettability and improved adhesion

  • One of the most important and specific advantages that ALDYNE affords to your products is the presence of nitrogen based polar groups such as amines, amides or imides on the surface of the material (4 to 9 %), that confer to it high and permanent surface energy and therefore excellent wettability and adhesion. These nitrogen-based functions create stable hydrogen or covalent bonding with the binders of the ink, varnish or adhesive formulations improving adhesion and avoiding delaminating when handling or using the final product.
  • ALDYNE is able to confer to the surface of a BOPP film, up to 60 mN/m which remains stable for more than 12 months for additive-free films or stabilises over time at approximately 46-50 mN/m for slip additive containing substrates.
  • ALDYNE is able to confer to the surface of a BOPET up to 72 mN/m which remains stable for more than 12 months for additive-free films or stabilizes over time at approximately 60-64 mN/m for slip additive containing substrates.

Full respect of the film’s surface morphology
- The smooth and evenly distributed electrical discharges of ALDYNE fully respect the morphology of the surface without any skin damage or significant change inits roughness.

No blocking
- You won’t have any blocking problems due to the absence of high viscosity zones and to the slipping properties of the amido and imido groups. This is valid for even double-side ALDYNE primered materials.

Modulable Coefficient of Friction (COF)
- The variation of chemical functions and especially the variable amount of amino, amido and imido groups present on the surface allows modulating the COF.

Environmentally friendly process

ALDYNE is a modern, environmentally friendly process designed for sustainable growth, with zero VOC or off-gas emissions and clean and safe working area (zero ozone emission).

These are some of the reasons why we want to propose you a our ALDYNE package.
