Air Liquide, committed for many years to a Sustainable Development approach, has once again been recognized by Ethibel, an independent consulting firm working in socially responsible investments. Ethibel’s selection procedure is based on an analysis per activity sector using studies carried out by Vigeo, the European extra-financial rating agency.
It is Air Liquide’s constant improvement in social and environmental responsibility performances that has kept the Group in the “Ethibel Excellence” index.
The Group generates 36% of its revenue and now invests 60% of its R&D budget in applications that preserve life and the environment. Air Liquide’s commitment has taken concrete form through the identification of precise goals and indicators. Published in the Group’s Sustainable Development Report, this data demonstrates the progress made.
For example, in 2008, Air Liquide exceeded its employee training objective. In 2009, the sustainable development indicators were enriched in several areas, notably by including the “carbon content” of the Groups main products, the principal waste and byproducts generated by its production units, the origin of the electric energy used…
The Sustainable Development approach has also expanded into the societal area. Since 2008, the Air Liquide Foundation has been supporting research projects in healthcare and the preservation of the environment as well as many local development actions in the countries where the Group operates.
