Air Liquide Japan Ltd. to build high-efficiency plant in Kagoshima

Air Liquide Japan Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Representative President & CEO, Shiro Yahara, hereinafter "Air Liquide Japan"), a leading company in gas, technologies and services for industry and health, will build a high-efficiency gas plant in Kirishima, Kagoshima prefecture.

Air Liquide Japan will replace one of its gas plants at the Kokubu factory belonging to an affiliated company, Kagoshima Oxiton KK, with new a high-efficiency plant and increase the supply capacity of industrial gas products to the Kyushu markets. Engineer activities are already underway and construction is scheduled to begin during 2019.

Air Liquide Japan and its affiliated companies aim to optimize and continuously improve energy consumption, achieving economic efficiencies and realizing development that is sustainable and environmentally conscious. This new investment accords with our mission to be a leader in offering solutions to an ever-increasing need to protect the environment, which includes our commitment to a hydrogen energy-based society.

Air Liquide Japan will not only invest in modernization and renewal of our gas production factory, but will also implement other energy-saving measures through optimization of the distribution of liquid gas and other substances.  In addition, it will implement the state of the art factory management technologies based on “Internet of Things.” Air Liquide Group has announced its intentions to reduce its carbon intensity by 30% in 2025 in reference to 2015, and this renewal in Japan will be in line with this direction.
