The Group has been established in Madagascar since 1949 and today has 88 employees. We serve more than 700 customers, ranging from large mining and energy companies and the agri-food industry to craftsmen and small to mid-size businesses and healthcare professionals.
At operational level, our activities are managed via two entities. Air Liquide Madagascar (formerly known as SOAM) supplies products and services to a wide variety of customers and takes care of the healthcare activity. Air Liquide Grande Industrie Madagascar (ALGIM) supplies large quantities of gas (mainly oxygen and hydrogen) to the mining sector.
In addition, our extensive distribution network covers all regions of the country.
Air Liquide Madagascar is committed to protecting the environment. In 2015, a reforestation day has been observed in a nearby area to the south of Antananarivo. This kind of initiative is fully aligned with the Group’s commitment to act responsibly and protect the environment and local communities.
The Air Liquide Foundation is also active in the country, with various micro-initiatives:
Rollout of scientific media libraries in the high schools of Madagascar
Development of an alternative cooking method in the Amoron'I Mania regio
Renewal of the support project for the fish farming cooperatives of the Haute Matsiatra
Creating social crèches for young mothers in Antananarivo
