Providing high technology solutions

As a preferred partner of the scientific community, Air Liquide contributes the very high-technology solutions crucial to the success of major research projects, with particular focus on:

  • Discovering the energy sources of tomorrow, with hydrogen energy, second-generation biofuels and the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor’s (ITER) centralized cooling system, the biggest one ever built
  • Expanding our knowledge about the origins of the universe, with the world's most powerful particle accelerator at CERN and its cryogenic line, the largest ever built
  • The conquest of space, with the Ariane 5 launch vehicle’s cryogenic tanks, orbital cryogenics, etc.

It is essential to add value to our scientific and technical expertise by contributing to the process of sharing information with the academic world. The Gas Encyclopedia, produced with input from our research teams and available free over the Internet, is a perfect example of this commitment. It is packed with practical information about many gas molecules in their solid, liquid and gaseous states. The iPad version of the encyclopedia offers a number of additional functions, including a molecule comparator for laboratory work, a filtered search engine, a unit converter and the option to view molecules in 3-D.
