Air Liquide exhibits “Technologies for Climate Protection” in Poznań

Air Liquide will participate to the exhibition held during the COP 14, 14^th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which will take place on 1 – 12 December 2008 in Poznań, Poland.

This is the most prestigious forum of political discussion in the scope of climate protection, attracting the attention of the entire world.

Air Liquide is deeply involved in the development of technologies to help mitigate greenhouse gas emissions (through energy efficiency, Carbon Capture and Storage, second generation biofuels, photovoltaics) and to help adapt to climate change (H2 fuel cells, water treatment).

Air Liquide will present during the Exhibition, information about innovative technologies that are developed to help reduce global GHG emissions:

Oxy-combustion, an innovative environmental solution

Many industrial processes (glass industry, mettalurgy, steel…) use combustion process. Using oxygen in large combustion units to increase energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions.

Air Liquide is still developing hydrogen gas as a new clean energy carrier. Air Liquide has over 40 years of experience in hydrogen, covering the entire chain, from its production (over 200 production units worldwide) to the entire range of its applications.

Second generation biofuels

Air Liquide is developing low-carbon intensive fuels from the residual non-food parts of crops.

The Group participates in a major demonstration project in collaboration with the Lurgi Technical Center in Karlsruhe for energy production from biomass.
