A privileged partner of aviation and a historic actor in the space adventure, Air Liquide will be at the Paris Air Show, Le Bourget from June 15 to 21.
In response to its customers’ needs for cutting-edge applications in aeronautics and space, Air Liquide contributes its expertise in the use of gases and very low temperature cryogenics.
Privileged partner of aviation
The world leader in onboard air separation technologies for use in aircraft, the Group designs solutions to ensure the safety and comfort of the crew and passengers. At the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget airport, Air Liquide will present its systems to produce oxygen for breathing for those on board (OBOGS*) and to produce nitrogen for securing fuel tanks (OBIGGS**). The booth will also present autonomous breathing systems for navigating personnel.
For the aeronautics industry, the Group has also developed ground systems: safe inflation of tires and shock absorbers, mobile oxygen generators to fill reserves for pilots and crews…
Historic partner of the space adventure
A partner of the space adventure for nearly 50 years, the Group has unique expertise in cryogenics.
During the Paris Air Show, apart from the Group’s major contribution to Ariane 5, the onboard cryogenics systems on the Planck satellite will be highlighted: an exact replica, used for tests at very low temperatures, will be presented. Planck was launched on May 14, 2009 at the same time as the Herschel satellite. Performing technological feats, Air Liquide developed the innovative cryogenic technologies used on board these two scientific satellites and absolutely indispensable to their operation.
Air Liquide also developed the active part of the MELFI freezer in use on board the international space station (ISS) since 2006.
