From November 16 to 20, 2009, Air Liquide is taking part, in France, in the National Week for the Employment of the Disabled People.
In 2007, Air Liquide formalized its commitment on the handicap with “Mission Handicap” in order to recruit, train and keep employed disabled people, a dimension that is an integral part of the diversity policy that the Group conducts.
Diversity is one of the pillars of the Human Resources policy at Air Liquide. Present in 75 countries and with 43,000 employees throughout the world, the diversity of cultures and experience is a reality. In October 2009, Air Liquide signed the Diversity Chart to fight against all forms of discrimination (nationality, gender, age, experience, ethnic origin, education and training). Air Liquide’s commitment, in favor of integrating the disabled people, is right in line with this policy.
Training actions with Air Liquide employees have been started to raise awareness of diversity challenges. These sessions treat legal obligations on diversity, the actors, the Group’s commitments, professional equality between men and women, intercultural issues and the handicap.
This last theme was formalized in November 2006 through an agreement signed with social partners in France; “Mission Handicap” is a strong sign of a commitment by Air Liquide that is based on five concrete actions:
- Raising awareness and communicating on the handicap in the company
- Recruiting handicapped people for long and short-term contracts, work-study contracts and internships
- Providing training for handicapped employees
- Working with structures in the protected sector
- Keeping handicapped people in their jobs
In order to concretize Air Liquide’s commitment to the integration of the disabled people, many actions are conducted throughout the year and more specifically during the National Week for the Employment of the Disabled People (France). Other actions are carried out internally with aware-raising operations and externally with strengthened collaboration with centers of aid through work.
In 2008, the disabled people represented 1.2% of all the Air Liquide Group’s employees.
