On February 12th, in Brussels, EURODIS recognized the players that have contributed to advancing the cause of rare diseases in Europe during its annual Black Pearl Awards ceremony. Air Liquide Healthcare, and more specifically its medical devices division, received an award for the quality of its innovative devices and services and their contribution to improving the quality of life for patients.

Since 2012, EURORDIS-Rare Diseases Europe has hosted the Black Pearl Awards ceremony to recognize the major achievements and commitment of patient advocacy groups, public policymakers, scientists, businesses, and media that strive to make a difference for the rare disease community. EURORDIS-Rare Diseases Europe is a non-profit organization that brings together 826 associations advocating for patients with rare diseases from 70 countries. Its objective is to work for a better quality of life for the 30 million patients who have been diagnosed with rare diseases in Europe and secure better access for them to adapted care and treatment.

Air Liquide Healthcare was nominated in the Health Technology category by the French association AFM-Téléthon, a member of EURORDIS-Rare Disease, which wanted to thank the Group for its innovation in proposing solutions and services that improve the lives of patients, whether hospitalized or at home. Air Liquide Healthcare has developed a nasal mask for children that allows them to speak with ease, wear glasses when they study or read and, in so doing, improve their day-to-day quality of life.

Many people who live with a rare disease and who experience respiratory issues currently benefit from the medical devices and services of Air Liquide. The Group works with physicians and hospitals to support patients at home and develop innovations that improve quality of life.
