Cutting of metallic raw materials is a process in which a metal fabricator turns sheets, tubes, coils and more into the desired size or shape. A focused laser beam is directed onto a sheet, allowing for burr-free cuts.
LASAL™ gases and equipment, specifically designed by Air Liquide for laser cutting and welding, improves productivity and quality, lowers operating costs and maintenance, and extends laser lifetime
Air Liquide offers a full range of specialty gases and related equipment to meet your laser cutting and welding needs. Global purity, along with control of specific impurities, are the most important factors when selecting gases for your lasing application. Air Liquide pioneered the laser industry standard for effective, consistent control of impurities now widely adopted in the marketplace. Our pure gases and multi-component mixtures for laser welding are prepared under strict quality control procedures that minimize specific impurities such as moisture, hydrocarbons and particulates.
Our LASAL™ brand gases and multi-component mixtures are prepared under strict quality control procedures that minimize specific impurities such as moisture, hydrocarbons and particulates. We also supply other pure gases and gas mixtures for laser welding, depending on your needs.

Metal Inert Gas welding (MIG welding) is a semi-automated welding process that is widely used in shipbuilding, railroad construction and the production of heavy plants and machinery. The process melts and fuses metals using intense heat generated by an electric arc between the metals to be joined and a filler wire.
Tungsten Inert Gas welding (TIG welding) process – commonly used for joining stainless steels, aluminum and aluminum alloys – enables a very high quality of weld to be achieved in particularly demanding projects, such as pressure vessels, pipelines, food industry containers and aircraft. The process uses an electric arc between the metals to be joined and an infusible tungsten-based electrode, located in the welding torch.
Our ARCAL™ brand offers a full range of high-quality, ready-to-use shielding gas solutions for arc welding, root shielding, plasma cutting, TIG welding and MIG and MAG welding applications.
Plasma cutting is used to thermally separate metallic materials that cannot be cut by a flame. Plasma cutting allows for a smaller cutting angle compared to flame cutting, high cutting speed, clean and smooth cutting edges, and high-quality welded joints. It is widely used on all types of metal to achieve quality cuts and maximize productivity. Under certain circumstances, plasma cutting can achieve a comparable quality level to laser cutting at a considerably lower production cost.
