To celebrate International Women’s Day on 8 March, Air Liquide gives a voice to several of its talented female employees. By sharing their experiences, they can inspire women to seize new opportunities throughout the Group, particularly in the engineering roles.
Discover the testimonies of 4 women working in the Air Liquide Engineering & Construction teams. They share their journeys and what they appreciate about their chosen careers, which helps to break down stereotypes about the role of women in the workplace.
Magdalena, Proposal Manager
“I'm working on a very fascinating project. This is new ammonia cracking technology that is under construction in Antwerp. I've been doing my job for over 15 years and I have never thought that I cannot do this. Besides, I can easily divide my professional and private time.”
Weronika, Commissioning Engineer
"I have an international career. I was hired in Poland. After that, I was working with the Frankfurt team. Now, I am a commissioning engineer on a project in France."
Barbara, Process Engineer
“I'm a process engineer in the sulfur product line. I need to be innovative when I work on technological development projects, my ideas are listened to and I feel that I make an impact.”
KamiIa, Project manager
“I'm a project manager. And over these past years my job evolved from an engineering to a management position. Engineering is challenging, never boring and it's helping to solve problems. I am leading a carbon capture project for a cement plant. I worked in Krakow. I worked in the Champigny office in France, in South Africa, Eastern Europe in Poland. Now I'm back in Krakow and probably it's not the last stop.”
Ensuring gender equality and creating an inclusive work environment are priorities for Air Liquide. Diversity, considered as a source of strength, creativity and performance is at the core of our ADVANCE strategic plan. The Group has set an ambitious goal to increase to 35% of women among our managers and professionals by 2025 and Air Liquide is pursuing a number of initiatives to promote gender equality throughout employees careers (recruitment, career path, development …).
Today, a number of initiatives are underway within the Group to promote gender diversity and inclusion, but there are still misperceptions in the industry that might contribute to the under-representation of women notably in industrial and scientific roles.
Many thanks to our employees, Barbara, Weronika, Kamila and Magdalena, for having shared their thoughts. To find out more about the Group's inclusion and diversity policy, visit the dedicated page.
