In response to the climate emergency, Air Liquide has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. To meet this collective challenge, the Group is deploying a strategy based on two complementary pillars: reducing its own emissions and offering decarbonization solutions to its customers. Where do we stand today? Let's take a closer look at an ambition that's already being translated into concrete actions.
Our Climate and Energy expert, Guillaume de Smedt, Deputy Vice President Sustainability at Air Liquide, presents our vision and key advancements toward carbon neutrality:
A clear trajectory at the heart of our strategy
Our action to decarbonize our activities is paying off: in 2024 Air Liquide reduced its scope 1 and 2 emissions by -11% compared with 2020, confirming that it is ahead of schedule in achieving its inflection target by 2025.
Thanks to innovation and the technological expertise of our teams, we are developing solutions and technologies to deeply transform industrial processes and reduce CO₂ emissions from our customers’ sites. Through our solutions (low-carbon gas supply, oxycombustion, CCS…) we support many sectors in their transition, including the hard-to-abate industries, such as cement.
Building a carbon-neutral economy requires a collective effort. That’s why we work hand in hand with our clients and partners, but also with public authorities to develop relevant solutions and create the right conditions for their deployment. Our commitment is reflected in the rollout of technologies that help accelerate the energy transition.
“We know it will be a long road, but the path forward is clear, and we are moving forward.
