Where does the word "bourse" (French word for stock market) come from?



The term “bourse” appeared in the 14th century, when Belgian merchants went to a place opposite a tavern run by a rich family called Van der Beurse. This place was called “Ter beurse”, literally "à la bourse" (French for "at the stock market").



Over the years, this term has become the one we use today : la bourse (French word for stock market)!

When was Air Liquide listed on the stock market?



Air Liquide was introduced on the Paris Stock Exchange in 1913.



The company has been part of the CAC 40, the benchmark index of the French market, since its creation in 1987.

What is the CAC 40?



The CAC 40 is the benchmark index of the French market. Created in 1987, it measures the share price performance of 40 companies on the Paris Stock Exchange.

When did the stock market become digital?



Historically, stock market trading was done "at the auction" around the basket, but the management of exchanges on the Paris Stock Exchange became entirely digital in the late 1990s.
