Water treatment at a glance

Water is a precious resource and needs to be used wisely. Water treatment consists of several mechanical and chemical processes that aim to remove water contaminants or reduce their concentration in order to make water more acceptable for a desired end-use.

The contaminants can be solid or dissolved and include metals and minerals, organic substances, viruses, bacteria, fungi…

Water treatment technologies are used to produce water intended for drinking and industrial purposes. They are responsible for preventing corrosion, scaling and bacterial development. They can also be applied to treat wastewater for reuse or prior to its discharge in the environment.

For industries, municipalities and water utility companies, Air Liquide offers Nexelia™ all-in-one solutions, which encompass drinking water, process water and wastewater.

NEXELIA™ is the result of a longstanding work with our customers to understand their challenges and specific needs. NEXELIA™ leverages our know-how in:

Our expert teams carry out the solution implementation on site to ensure the expected performance.

Drinking water. NEXELIA™ for drinking water covers gas applications and equipment used for treating potable water. It includes carbon dioxide used to rebalance minerals in desalinated water and ozone oxidation for disinfection.

Wastewater treatment. NEXELIA™ for biological treatment  relates to the use of pure oxygen to boost biological basins performance with in-house gas injectors, instead of using the traditional air blowing technology. In addition, advanced oxidation treatments with ozone can be implemented to destroy micropollutants and harmful chemicals

NEXELIA™  for pH control replaces mineral acids by carbon dioxide. It makes pH neutralization safer and friendlier to the environment.

Cooling water. Replacing liquid chemical acids by carbon dioxide helps prevent and eliminate scale in the cooling circuits. With Nexelia™ for cooling water, we offer a cost-effective and efficient solution to substitute hazardous chemical anti-scaling treatments. We also combine the system treatment with ozone to avoid biofouling and legionella risk.
